To address your main concern

I had written much here, explaining some salient facts to those of you who see fit to insult and threaten me and my friend. But because I still respect my wife and children, and because I really couldn't care less what a bunch of naive and judgemental simpletons think of me, I decided not to post it. I know what the truth is and so do those who actually care about me, whose opinions I actually consider important. That's good enough.

Can we please drop this now? Please? Can we pretend for a while that we're adults here?

I'm not even going to ask what this is concerning

Good luck to you and all involved. I caught a glimpse last night, but didn't comment. I should have though.

I have nothing but respect for you AND your wife. You are both talented folk, and I honestly never caught the "dirt" of it all. Those who judge have no right as they know as much of the intimacy of the situation as I do, which is not much if at all.

I hope the transitions are smooth for you all.

I liked your writing in the past. I may like it again in the future. On this topic, however, I find little to admire. If you don't care what people think, turn off the comment feature, or ignore the people with whom you disagree. But if you want this stuff responded to, as I think you do, be ready for people to disagree with the choices you've made.

And if you want to complain about name-calling, it's a good idea to refrain from it yourself.

@Chez: Thanks. It's painful enough already without a whole bunch of online bullshit too. I look forward to the day when this is all resolved.

@Sisyphus: Yeah. I couldn't resist. I thought I was fairly restrained considering some of the things myself and my friend have been called by absolute strangers, but anyway. Of course I want responses, and of course I'm ready for people to disagree. I'm always ready for intelligent, thoughtful discourse. Unfortunately there has been little thoughtfulness that so far. I'm not going to delete comments with which I disagree (though I will delete comments I consider inappropriate for one particular segment of my audience, if you know what I mean). I'm glad you like, or liked, my writing. I'm sorry you don't admire me, I guess, but mostly I don't care. I don't need to be admired by you, honestly. I made my decision for my reasons. I considered them good enough. You do not know my reasons, you can't possibly know them. People close to me don't know my reasons, not all of them, so how could you, a virtual stranger? Yet you don't approve. You don't approve of something you don't really understand. Hmmm. I'd be more than willing to discuss my choices with anyone who's interested -- genuinely interested -- in learning more about why I did it. But I'm not going to tolerate the throwing around of words like "whore." I see no reason why I should tolerate that, do you?

Actually, now that I think about it, it does kinda bug me that I lost your respect, if that's what happened, because I greatly admire your writing. I suppose I hoped that people would be able to separate my online existence, my writing, from my personal life. I suppose that's hoping too much. I've been trying to decide how I should handle this, whether I should post about it, whether I should post about Vancouver, my new life, whether I should post at all. Where is the line called sensitivity? What is appropriate and what isn't? I still don't know. I'd appreciate your input, if you feel like giving it.

Hmmm. I think respect and dignity dictates what you care to share to all of the world. And while I still maintain respect for you now (I've been on both sides of this coin in my life), I would prefer to live in ignorance if it may come down to my losing respect for you as a person.

On the other hand, it often helps to get things out in the open. It's therapeutic to have readers at your mercy of whatever thoughtful ramble comes out the fingertips.

That question is hard to answer.

I'm always ready for intelligent, thoughtful discourse.

Then why did you delete my last comment?
